Unser Poetry Day wird den Sommer über zu einem Poetic Song Day. Den Anfang macht heute das spanische Duo Pauline en la Playa mit einem sanften Wolfsgeheul.

Auuu

Ich werde wehen, wehen, wehen
und ich reiße, reiße dein Haus nieder.
Nichts wird bleiben
als der Bretterboden
und darüber die endlose Sternenwüste –
und in meiner Hand ein wohltemperierter Cognac
und auf meinen Lippen ein wölfisches Heulen.

Auuu

Ich werde wehen, wehen, wehen
und ich werfe deine Kleider vom Balkon.
Nichts wird bleiben
als die Schnur der Wäscheleine
und ein Spatz, der auf Brotkrümel lauert –
und in meiner Hand eine dicke Havanna-Zigarre
und auf meinen Lippen ein wölfisches Heulen.

Und ich wehe, wehe, wehe so heftig,
ich stürme, stürme, stürme.
Wegwerfen werd‘ ich deine Alben, deine Bücher.
Nichts wird bleiben
als der glitzernde Staub,
der tanzen wird in deinen Zimmern –
und in meinen Händen meine neue Gitarre
und am Himmel der leuchtende Mond.

Ein Wind, der so stark weht, dass er einem das ganze Haus einreißt und die darin angehäuften Habseligkeiten in alle Himmelsrichtungen verstreut – nicht gerade eine angenehme Vorstellung. Schon gar nicht für jene, die schon einmal einen Tornado miterlebt haben.
Das Lied der Schwestern Mar und Alicia Álvarez, die sich hinter dem Duo Pauline en la Playa (Pauline am Strand) verbergen, macht allerdings unmissverständlich deutlich, dass es darin nicht um die zerstörerische Kraft tropischer Stürme geht. Die „umwerfende“ Kraft des Windes steht hier vielmehr für einen jener Wendepunkte im Leben, an denen man alles Vergangene hinter sich lässt und noch einmal von vorn anfängt.
Eben deshalb ist die Reaktion auf den alles verwehenden Wind hier auch nicht Trauer, sondern Erleichterung, ja fast schon ein genießerisches Glücksgefühl. Das den Verlust begleitende „Heulen“ zeugt nicht von Schmerz, sondern ist eher ein jauchzendes Begrüßen der neu gewonnenen Freiheit. Einen Cognac in der Hand und eine Gewinnerzigarre im Mund, werden auf der „neuen“ Gitarre die Lieder des neuen Lebens angestimmt.
So erinnert der Sturm, der hier über das Haus des Lebens hinwegfegt, eher an das Großreinemachen, mit dem man etwa bei einem Umzug all den Ballast hinter sich lässt, der sich über Jahre angesammelt hat.
Und natürlich kann dieses Großreinemachen auch im übertragenen Sinn verstanden werden: als Entrümpelung des eigenen Lebens, bei dem obsolet gewordene Gewohnheiten und dysfunktionale Einstellungen über Bord geworfen werden – so dass auf einmal all die Mauern einstürzen, mit denen man sich selbst die freie Sicht auf das Leben und die eigenen Möglichkeiten versperrt hat.

On the Song Auuu by the Spanish Duo Pauline en la Playa

This summer, our Poetry Day will turn into a Poetic Song Day. To begin, let’s listen to the Spanish duo Pauline en la Playa and their gentle wolf howl.

Auuu

I’ll blow, I’ll blow, I’ll blow
and I’ll tear, tear down your house.
Nothing will be left
but the parquet floor
and the starry sky above it –
and in my hand a well-tempered cognac
and on my lips a wolfish howl.

I’ll blow, I’ll blow, I’ll blow
and I’ll toss your clothes off the balcony.
Nothing will be left
but the clothesline cord
and a sparrow lurking for a crumb of bread –
and in my hand a Havana cigar
and on my lips a wolfish howl.

I will toss away your albums and your novels.

but the floating dust

A wind that blows so hard that it tears down your entire house and scatters your belongings in all directions – not exactly a pleasant thought. Especially not for those who have already experienced a tornado.
However, the song by the sisters Mar and Alicia Álvarez, who form the duo Pauline en la Playa (Pauline on the beach), clearly indicates that it is not about the destructive power of tropical storms here. Instead, the overwhelming power of the wind stands for one of those turning points in life when you leave everything behind and start all over again.
That is why the reaction to the wind that sweeps away everything here is not grief, but relief, indeed almost joy. The „howl“ that accompanies the loss is not a sign of pain, but rather a jubilant welcome to the newly won freedom. A cognac in hand and a winner’s cigar in mouth, the songs of the new life are sung on the „new“ guitar.
Thus the storm that sweeps over the house of life here is more reminiscent of the big clean-up when moving house and leaving behind all the clutter that has accumulated over the years.
And of course, this cleaning can also be understood in a figurative sense: as a clearing out of one’s own life, in which obsolete habits and dysfunctional attitudes are thrown overboard – so that suddenly all the walls that have blocked one’s own view of life and one’s own possibilities come tumbling down.
